Founded in 1985, NCAP aims to promote collaboration among animal protection groups and help its member organizations achieve their goals.
NCAP provides an unmatched opportunity for leaders of organizations to connect with other leaders in the movement. For example, our annual Summit for the Animals gives leaders the chance to sit down together at the same table to plan, strategize, and learn in a neutral and intimate environment. Furthermore, I would love to personally invite you to join us on Facebook, where we now have a closed group intended for discussion and information sharing!
Professionalizing the Movement
Our movement is full of incredibly ambitious and creative individuals. Unfortunately, this also means that occasionally toes are stepped on and egos are bruised. To address this, NCAP members have drafted and agreed upon a Code of Ethics. This code sets ethical and professional standards for all NCAP member organizations and encourages collaboration, cooperation, coordination and an environment of trust, respect, and fairness. – see the document on our website.
Common Ground for Advocacy
Lastly, NCAP’s new initiative is World Animal Day, celebrated every year on October 4th. As World Animal Day gains traction around the world, we’ve embarked on a collaboration with UK-based NatureWatch to encourage celebration of this special day in the U.S. We see World Animal Day as a golden opportunity because it raises awareness for animals of all kinds and highlights the common ground that we’re all striving for on a daily basis. All we ask is that you consider celebrating World Animal Day in any way that fits your organization’s goals. World Animal Day, like joining NCAP, is an incredible opportunity to showcase your work, support each other and tailor your experiences in order to further your organization’s message.
