April 8, 2015-Baltimore, MD — Jen Swanson, Executive Director of Baltimore Humane Society has been appointed to the Baltimore City Mayor’s Anti-Animal Abuse Advisory Commission. The Commission’s goal is to eliminate animal abuse and neglect and make Baltimore a city where residents and animals are treated with dignity and respect.
Ms. Swanson became Executive Director of Baltimore Humane Society, a private, non-profit, no-kill animal shelter based in Reisterstown in July 2011. A Baltimore City resident of District 2, she has lived in the city for the majority of her life.
Swanson began attending the Anti-Animal Abuse Advisory Commission meetings in July 2014. Through her efforts and those of the other members of the standing commission, the hope is that the number of animal cruelty cases will decline.
“I am so honored to officially be a part of the Mayor’s Anti-Animal Abuse Advisory Commission, “says Swanson. “I am excited for the future of this commission and animal welfare in Baltimore as we move forward.”
